A bill to provide that the availability of extended and supplemental unemployment benefits shall be determined by using the total unemployment rate and that such benefits may be made available on an area basis within a State, and to extend the supplemental unemployment program.
Truth in Unemployment Statistics Act of 1984 - Amends the Federal-State Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 1970 to provide that the State trigger for the extended unemployment compensation program shall be based on specified total unemployment rates. Provides for optional area triggers for such program.
Amends the Federal Supplemental Compensation Act of 1982 to extend the supplemental unemployment compensation program through March 31, 1986.
Sets forth provisions relating to effective dates.
Directs the Secretary of Labor to take all steps necessary to establish systems and procedures for the collection of data necessary to carry out this Act.
