A bill to make the provision of the Public Safety Officer Benefits Act retroactive to January 1, 1972, and to include volunteer ambulance, first aid, rescue squad, and industrial fire-fighting unit members as Public Safety Officers eligible to receive benefits thereunder.
Volunteer Ambulance, First Aid, and Rescue Squad and Industrial Firefighting Unit Personnel Benefits Act of 1977 - Amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to extend public safety officer death benefit coverage to members of an officially designated volunteer ambulance, first-aid, or rescue squad, and/or a member of a volunteer industrial firefighting unit which performs the same functions as a municipal fire department. Applies such coverage to deaths occurring from injuries sustained after December 31, 1971.
