Amends Title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act to authorize the Governor of any State to request that payment for Medicare services rendered by physicians in that State be made in accordance with a single fee schedule applicable throughout such State.
Directs the Governor of such State to propose a fee schedule after consulting with State medical societies and requires that such fee schedule be approved by the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare.
Permits all physicians in any such State to elect whether or not to participate in such fee schedule plan, and provides that all participating physicians receive the full amount specified in the fee schedule without offset for deductible or coinsurance amounts.
Requires that each fee schedule in effect and the names and addresses of all participating physicians be made available to the public.
