A bill to provide emergency financial assistance to assure that there are adequate levels of police and fire personnel to provide for the public safety of citizens residing in areas which have been forced, due to severe financial hardship, to lay off public safety officers.
Public Safety Emergency Aid Act - Amends the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973 to direct the Secretary of Labor to enter into agreements with local governments forced to reduce the number of public safety officers due to severe financial hardship in order that such governments may increase the number of public safety officers to adequate levels.
Specifies persons to be given priority by such governments in employing public safety officers with financial assistance provided under this Act.
Sets forth guidelines for the allocation of funds distributed under this Act.
