Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Act

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Act - Directs the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare to carry out a program to develop materials relating to sudden infant death syndrome and to disseminate such information and materials to persons providing health care, public safety officials, and to the public generally.

Allows the Secretary to make grants to public and nonprofit private entities, and enter into contracts with public and private entities, for projects which include both the collection, analysis, and furnishing of information relating to the causes of the sudden infant death syndrome, and the provision of information and counseling to families affected by the sudden infant death syndrome. Limits such grants to $50,000.

Provides that no grant may be made or contract entered into under this act unless an application therefor has been submitted to and approved by the Secretary.

Requires the Secretary to submit, within two years following the date of the enactment of this Act, a comprehensive report to the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare of the Senate and the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce of the House of Representatives respecting the administration of this Act and the results obtained from the program authorized by it.
