To amend the National Security Act of 1947 to modify the membership of the National Security Council, and for other purposes.
National Security Council Modernization Act of 2021
This bill expands the scope and modifies the membership of the National Security Council. Specifically, the council must advise the President with respect to the integration of biodefense policies in addition to the currently required policies (e.g., domestic policy).
The bill adds to the membership of the council the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Director of National Intelligence, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
