To amend section 402 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 to provide a 2-year extension of supplemental security income in fiscal years 2006 through 2008 for refugees, asylees, and certain other humanitarian immigrants.
SSI Extension for Elderly and Disabled Refugees Act - Amends the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 to provide a two-year extension of supplemental security income (SSI) from FY 2006 through 2008 for qualified aliens (including asylees and certain Cuban and Haitian entrants).
Provides that any qualified alien rendered ineligible for SSI during fiscal years before FY 2006, soley by reason of the termination of a certain seven-year period, shall be eligible for such program for an additional two-year period, if the alien meets all other SSI eligibility factors. Requires benefits to be paid prospectively over the duration of the qualified alien's renewed eligibility.
