Safe Food Act of 1997 - Establishes in the executive branch an independent Food Safety Administration which shall administer and enforce the food safety laws.
Directs the President to terminate specified food safety-related Federal agencies to the extent their activities relate to the administration or enforcement of food safety laws.
Referred to the Subcommittee on Health and Environment, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Chairman.
