IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES JUNE 24, 1992 Mr. MORRISON introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs A BILL To authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to convey certain real property in the Wenatchee National Forest, Washington, to the Public Utility District No. 1 of Chelan County, Washington, in exchange for other real property. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. LAND EXCHANGE, WENATCHEE NATIONAL FOREST, WASHINGTON. (a) CONVEYANCE- The Secretary of Agriculture may convey to the Public Utility District No. 1 of Chelan County, Washington (in this section referred to the `District'), all right, title, and interest of the United States in and to the sewage collection and treatment system facilities located at the Lake Wenatchee Ranger District, Wenatchee National Forest, Washington, and a parcel of real property of approximately 60 acres of National Forest System land partially occupied by the existing treatment plant and ponds. The National Forest System lands authorized to be conveyed under this subsection are located in the NE 1/4 SW 1/4 and N 1/2 SE 1/4 SW 1/4 of section 27, township 27 north, range 17 east, Willamette Meridian. (b) CONSIDERATION- As consideration for the conveyance authorized under subsection (a), the District shall convey to the United States a parcel of real property of approximately 60 acres presently owned by the District and described as Government Lot 5, SW 1/4 SW 1/4 and SE 1/4 and SW 1/4 of section 35, township 26 north, range 17 east, Willamette Meridian. (c) VALUE OF EXCHANGE TO BE EQUAL- To the extent that the value of the facilities and lands conveyed by the Secretary of Agriculture under subsection (a) exceeds the value of the real property conveyed under subsection (b), as determined by appraisals satisfactory to the Secretary, the District shall satisfy the difference by providing sewer service or constructing additional facilities serving Federal lands, or both. (d) LEGAL DESCRIPTION AND SURVEY- The exact acreage and legal description of the property to be exchanged under this section shall be determined by surveys that are satisfactory to the Secretary of Agriculture. The cost of such surveys shall be shared equally by the Secretary and the District. (e) OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS- The Secretary of Agriculture may require such other terms and conditions with respect to the conveyance as the Secretary considers appropriate to protect the interests of the United States.
