To authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to carry out a Forest Stewardship Assistance Program for owners of nonindustrial private forest land, and for other purposes.
Forest Stewardship Assistance Act of 1989 - Amends the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 to authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to establish a Forest Stewardship Assistance Program to encourage the long-term stewardship of nonindustrial private forest lands by assisting owners to manage their forest and related resources.
Authorizes FY 1990 through 1994 appropriations.
