A bill to provide for a special standard of care to be applied by Federal courts in cases in which volunteer athletic services are rendered negligently and in certain cases in which officers, directors, or trustees of certain nonprofit associations act negligently.
Nonprofit Sports Liability Limitation Act of 1987 - Provides immunity from civil liability (in any action commenced in a Federal court) for persons who render volunteer athletic services, and for persons who, without compensation, act in the capacity of an officer, director, or trustee of certain nonprofit associations, unless: (1) their conduct falls substantially below the standards generally practiced and accepted in similar circumstances; (2) their conduct constitutes a failure to fulfill a legal obligation; and (3) they know or have reason to know that such conduct creates a substantial risk of harm.
