A bill to amend the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 to provide for more effective motor vehicle safety regulations, and for other purposes.
Automobile Occupant Protection Improvement Act of 1985 - Amends the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 to require passenger automobile manufacturers to install front seat airbags in each passenger automobile manufactured for the American domestic market. Sets deadlines by which such airbags must be installed.
Directs the Secretary of Transportation to dissemminate information to the public about the performance and benefits of airbags.
