A bill to create a National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse under the Office of Justice Programs in the Department of Justice.
Child Abuse Prosecution Act of 1985 - Amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to direct the Assistant Attorney General, Office of Justice Programs, to provide for the operation of a clearinghouse known as the National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse.
Delineates the functions of such clearinghouse, including: (1) information dissemination regarding model prosecution programs; (2) monitoring of State and Federal legislation in order to develop model legislation; (3) technical assistance and litigation support to prosecutors in child abuse cases; (4) coordination of interdisciplinary team assistance for local prosecutors in the investigation and preparation of child abuse cases; and (5) funding of assistance to support such interdisciplinary teams.
