A bill to require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint gold and silver coins in commemoration of the one hundredth Congress.
One Hundredth Congress Commemorative Coin Act - Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and issue up to 1,000,000 five-dollar gold coins and up to 10,000,000 one-dollar silver coins emblematic of the 100th Congress. Requires the Secretary to obtain the gold for minting such coins pursuant to existing authority, and to obtain the silver only from stockpiles established under the Strategic and Critical Minerals Stock Piling Act.
Requires coin sales to include a surcharge of $35 for each gold coin and $7 for each silver coin which shall be used solely for reducing the national debt. Requires the Secretary to ensure that minting and issuing such coins will not result in any net cost to the Government.
