A bill to increase Government economy and efficiency and to reduce the deficit by implementing certain recommendations of the President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control to strengthen the auditing of Department of Defense transportation bills, and for other purposes.
Defense Transportation Bill Audit Improvement Act of 1986 - Amends Federal law relating to claims against the Government to require the Administrator of General Services to delegate to the Secretary of Defense the authority to audit bills for the transportation of individuals and property of the Department of Defense.
Directs the Secretary of Defense, whenever practicable and economically desirable, to enter into contracts with private firms for the auditing of such transportation bills.
