A bill to impose certain limitations on civil actions brought against local governments for negligence.
Local Government Liability Relief Act of 1986 - Provides that damages awarded in negligence actions brought against local governments shall be based on comparative fault. Limits punitive damages in such actions to twice the actual damages. Limits attorney fees in such actions to 25 percent of the judgment or settlement. Provides fines and/or imprisonment for up to one year for attorneys who violate such restrictions.
