Truth in Packaging Act of 1986 - Amends the Tariff Act of 1930 to require the typeface of the English name of the country of origin that is required on goods imported into the United States to be no smaller in size and no less bold than the typeface of the largest type that otherwise appears on such goods.
Requires the Secretary of the Treasury to prescribe regulations relating to a person who requests a modification to exceptions to such requirements.
Sets forth both civil and criminal penalties for the sale of unmarked goods. Increases the fine from $5,000 to $100,000 for alteration of such markings.
