A bill to amend the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to modify the composition and administration of the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board.
Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board Act of 1985 - Amends the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to raise from 11 to 12 the number of Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board members who are appointed by the President from among members of the general public. Increases from five to seven the required number of such appointed members who are handicapped individuals.
Extends the term of office of each appointed member of the Board from three to four years. Sets forth transitional provisions.
Permits an appointed member to continue to serve as a member of the Board until the member's successor qualifies.
Provides that a majority of Board members (not counting proxies) shall constitute a quorum.
Provides that professional and clerical personnel shall be hired by the executive director rather than appointed by the Board.
