A bill to amend title 18, United States Code, with respect to certain bribery and related offenses.
Bank Bribery Amendments Act of 1985 - Amends the Federal criminal code with respect to bribery. Provides that any person who corruptly gives or offers anything of value to an officer, director, employee, agent, or attorney of a financial institution with the intent to influence official action shall be fined not more than $5,000 (or three times the value of the bribe, whichever is greater) or imprisoned for not more than five years, or both. Provides that where the value of the thing offered or accepted does not exceed $100, the fine shall be not more than $1,000 and imprisonment shall be for not more than one year, or both.
Prohibits any person from corruptly soliciting, accepting, or agreeing to accept anything of value for the above purposes. Applies the same penalties to such offenses.
Defines "financial institution" as including federally insured banks, savings and loan institutions, credit unions, Federal home loan banks, Federal land banks, small business investment companies, bank holding companies, and savings and loan companies.
Directs the Federal agencies with responsibility for regulating financial institutions to establish guidelines to assist officers, directors, employees, agents, or attorneys of financial institutions to comply with this Act.
