American Scientists Commemorative Coin Act - Directs the Secretary of the Treasury, during each of the five years following enactment of this Act, to issue one dollar silver coins and ten dollar gold coins commemorating outstanding American scientists. Directs the Secretary, in consultation with the National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Foundation, to select the scientists to be pictured on the coins. Directs that a different scientist is to be commemorated on the gold and silver coins each year.
Specifies the respective size, weight, and design of the silver and gold coins. Provides for the sale of such coins at a price sufficient to cover costs and allow for the collection of specified surcharges. Directs the Secretary to announce the number of gold and silver coins to be produced in a given year and to issue no more than the number announced.
