A bill to amend the Federal Meat Inspection Act to prohibit the importation of any live animal or meat or meat food product that has been produced using agricultural chemicals or drugs prohibited from use in the United States.
Federal Imported Meat Standards Act of 1985 - Amends the Federal Meat Inspection Act to prohibit the importation of live animals or meat produced using chemicals or drugs prohibited for use in the United States. Authorizes the President to make exceptions to prevent serious damage to U.S. exports of agricultural products providing the Congress is given ten days' notice of such intent.
Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to initiate negotiations to develop an international agreement regarding the use of antibiotics and drugs in the production of food.
