A bill entitled "Science Education Improvement Act of 1983".
Science Education Improvement Act of 1983 - Amends the Internal Revenue Code to grant certified elementary and secondary school instructors of mathematics, any physical science, or any other subject for which there is a substantial shortage of teachers, a nonrefundable $1,000 income tax credit. Requires such instructors to spend at least 50 percent of working hours to teaching one of the above-listed subjects.
Requires the Secretary of Education to establish an advisory committee which will inform the Secretary and the Secretary of the Treasury of any substantial shortage of certified instructors in any subject taught in the public schools. Requires the Secretary to consult with the advisory committee at least once every calendar year.
