A bill to amend the mineral leasing laws of the United States to provide for competitive oil and gas leasing at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and to provide for uniform treatment of certain receipts under such laws, and for other purposes.
Fort Chaffee Leasing Act of 1983 - Authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to issue leases under the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920 only by competitive bidding for land at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.
Amends Federal mineral leasing laws to require that receipts from leases entered into after January 1, 1978, for lands acquired for military or naval purposes (except the Naval Petroleum Reserves and the National Oil Shale Reserves) shall be paid into the Treasury and disposed of in the same manner as similar receipts under the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920.
