S. 729 — A bill to amend the Federal-State Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 1970 to provide that extended benefit payments shall not be denied to individuals unable to engage in an "active search for work" on account of jury duty or hospitalization.

Summary

Amends the Federal-State Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 1970 to exempt from "active search for work" requirements for benefits under such Act individuals who are: (1) acting as jurors in a civil, State, or Federal trial; or (2) hospitalized due to a life-threatening condition. Directs the Secretary of Labor to issue regulations relating to such exemptions within 30 days of enactment of this Act.
