A bill to promote the public welfare by protecting institutionalized children from abuse.
Juvenile Detention Employees Clearance Act of 1983 - Prohibits the employment of any person at a facility maintained for the detention, correction, care, or treatment of juveniles unless a nationwide criminal record check has ascertained whether such person poses a significant danger of abuse or mistreatment of the juveniles.
Directs the Attorney General to assist State governments in their investigations.
