A bill to provide authorization of appropriations for the United States Travel and Tourism Administration, and for other purposes.
International Travel Act of 1961 Authorization Act of 1984 - Amends the International Travel Act of 1961 to authorize appropriations for FY 1985 to carry out such Act.
Directs the Secretary of Commerce to establish a pilot program to determine the feasibility of establishing Regional Liaison Centers for the U.S. Travel and Tourism Administration throughout the United States. Declares that the purposes of the Centers shall be to provide technical assistance to tourism offices of States within the region and to serve as liaisons between such State offices and offices of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Administration.
Requires the Regional Liaison Center for the pilot program to be located in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Requires the Secretary to establish by January 1, 1985, offices of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Administration in Italy, the Netherlands, and Australia.
Requires the Secretary to prepare data identifying the 30 foreign nations that generated the greatest amount of revenue in the United States in calendar year 1983 from travel or tourism by nationals of such countries.
Directs the Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of State, to establish procedures to ensure that at least one employee in each U.S. embassy located in such a foreign nation is trained to supplement the efforts of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Administration.
