A bill to require States provided assistance under part B of title XIX of the Public Health Service Act to expand prevention and treatment programs for alcoholism, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse among women, and to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct research on alcoholism, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse among women.
Prevention and Treatment of Alcoholism, Alcohol Abuse, and Drug Abuse Among Women Act of 1983 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to require State block grant programs for the prevention and treatment of alcoholism, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse to give special attention to women, including homemakers, single mothers, divorced mothers, displaced homemakers, and pregnant women. Authorizes appropriations through FY 1988.
Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish and carry out a research program into various aspects of the problem of alcoholism, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse among women. Requires the Secretary to report to the Congress on the results of such research. Authorizes appropriations through FY 1988.
