Erie Canal Maintenance Act of 1983 - Authorizes the Secretary of the Army, acting through the Chief of Engineers, to maintain and rehabilitate the New York State Barge Canal.
Requires the State of New York to operate the canal and to pay at least one-half of its annual cost. Defines the New York State Barge Canal for the purposes of this Act.
