Amends the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978 to direct the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to prepare and submit a biannual report to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on the filings by interstate pipelines regarding sales and transportation rates and charges, including filings for adjustments for purchased gas costs.
Revises provisions relating to the authority of the Commission to hold hearings concerning new rate schedules. Authorizes the Commission to hold hearings concerning the lawfulness of a rate, charge, adjustment, classification, or service made by a natural gas company for or in connection with the transportation or sale of natural gas whenever: (1) any new schedule is filed; or (2) any rate change is filed pursuant to any purchased gas adjustment clause under any schedule.
