A bill to amend title 18 of the United States Code to prevent certain profiteering from Federal crime.
Anti-Profiteering From Crime Act of 1984 - Amends the Federal criminal code to require an individual indicted, accused, or convicted of an offense to pay to the Attorney General all proceeds received from the sale of literary or other rights with respect to the criminal act.
Requires the Attorney General to deposit all proceeds in a separate escrow account. Authorizes the Attorney General to make payments from the account to the victim. Allows money from the fund to pay for the defendant's legal representation.
Requires the Attorney General to pay the balance of the account to the individual if acquitted or if five years have elapsed and no action is pending regarding the victim.
