Depositor Protection Act of 1983 - Title I: Required Deposit Insurance - Amends the Federal Deposit Insurance Act, the National Housing Act, and the Federal Credit Union Act to require deposits or accounts of all depository institutions to be insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, or a State program.
Title II: State Insurance Funds - Directs the Board of the FDIC, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and the National Credit Union Administration Board to establish minimum standards to ensure the effectiveness and viability of State deposit and share insurance funds. Requires each State insurance program to register with the appropriate Federal agency to become an approved State program. Requires an annual examination of the State programs that are registered with the appropriate Federal agency.
