Prison Industries Improvement Act of 1983 - Amends the Federal criminal code to permit the transportation of certain prison-made goods through interstate commerce. Establishes criteria regarding taxes and wages that prison industry programs must meet.
Allows for a deduction in prisoners wages for the cost of room and board, taxes and reimbursement for crime victims.
