A bill to amend the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 to remove the maximum age limitation applicable to employees who are protected under such Act, and for other purposes.
Age Discrimination in Employment Amendments of 1983 - Amends the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 to remove the existing 70-year upper age limit to which the discrimination prohibitions apply, thus extending coverage to all individuals who are at least 40 years of age.
Allows compulsory retirement of tenured faculty of an institution of higher learning until July 1, 1998.
Delays the effect of this Act for employees under a collective bargaining contract until January 1, 1987, or the termination of such contract, if earlier.
