A bill to amend title XVI of the Social Security Act to allow the award of attorneys fees in appeals involving claims for supplementary security income benefits on the same basis as is presently provided under title II of such Act of appeals involving claims for old-age, survivors, and disability insurance benefits.

Amends title XVI (Supplemental Security Income) of the Social Security Act to provide for the payment of attorneys' fees when a claimant is successful in a claim for past-due benefits. States that the fee shall come out of such past-due benefits. Makes the award on the same basis as is presently provided for under title II (Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance) of the Act.
