A bill to revise Section 1 of the Clayton Act to expand the scope of the antitrust laws, and for other purposes.
Unfair Foreign Competition Act of 1979 - Prohibits any person who imports any article into the United States from knowingly and purposely importing or selling such article at a price lower than the price for such article in the principal markets of the country of their production if: (1) sale at such price would necessarily and directly injure an industry, prevent, wholly or partially, the establishment of an industry in the United States, or restrain or monopolize trade and commerce in such article in the United States; and (2) such damage actually results from such sale.
Establishes the maximum fine for violation of such prohibition at $50,000.
Empowers a United States district court before which a proceeding is pending to enjoin the further importation or distribution of the alleged article (or similar articles) by a defendant who fails to comply with the orders or decrees of such court.
