Amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to require the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare to designate an official name for any prescription drug within the purview of such Act.
Deems such a prescription drug misbranded if its labeling or advertising bears any name other than such official name.
Authorizes the Secretary to exempt such a prescription drug from this labeling and advertising requirement for up to one year in order to avoid confusion and permit the orderly transition of labeling and advertising names.
