Colorado National Forest Wilderness Act of 1979 - Designates the following National Forest System lands in the State of Colorado as components of the National Wilderness Preservation System: (1) the Cache La Poundre Wilderness, Comanche Peak Wilderness, and Neota Wilderness, all in the Roosevelt National Forest; (2) the Lost Creek Wilderness, and Mount Evans Wilderness, in the Pike National Forest; (3) the Raggeds Wilderness in the Gunnison and White River National Forest; (4) the Never Summer Wilderness, and Saint Louis Peaks Wilderness, in the Arapaho National Forest; (5) the Mount Sneffels Wilderness, and Uncompahgre Wilderness, in the Uncompahgre National Forest; (6) the Collegiate Mountains Wilderness in the Gunnison, San Isabel, and White River National Forests; (7) the Holy Cross Wilderness in the White River National Forest; (8) the Mount Massive Wilderness in the San Isabel National Forest; (9) the South Juans Wilderness in the San Juan National Forest; and (10) the Wilson Mountain Wilderness in the San Juan and Uncompahgre National Forests.
Designates certain additions to: (1) the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness in the Gunnison and White River National Forests; (2) the Mount Zirkel Wilderness in the Gunnison and White River National Forests; (2) the Mount Zirkel Wilderness in the Routt National Forest; (3) the Rawah Wilderness in the Roosevelt and Routt National Forests; (4) the Weminuche Wilderness in the Rio Grande and San Juan National Forests; (5) the West Elk Wilderness in the Gunnison National Forest; and (6) the La Garita Wilderness in the Rio Grande and Gunnison National Forests. Repeals previous classifications of the Wilson Mountains Primitive Area and the Uncompahgre Primitive Area.
Requires the Secretary of Agriculture, within two years after the date of enactment of this Act, to review the Fossil Ridge Wilderness Study Area in the Gunnison National Forest to determine the suitability or unsuitability of the lands within such study area for designation as wilderness.
Requires the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture, within two years after the date of enactment of this Act, to jointly review the Wheeler Geological Study Area in the Gunnison National Forest and make recommendations for management of the lands in such study area to the President and Congress. Specifies items to be evaluated in such study.
Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to review all policies, practices, and regulations of the Department of Agriculture regarding livestock grazing in national forest wilderness areas.
