Urban Rivers Rehabilitation Act of 1979 - Permits the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to make grants to the State of Rhode Island, and to any political subdivision of such State, to rehabilitate the part of the Ten Mile River which is located in Providence, Pawtucket, and Warwick, Rhode Island, so that such part of the river may be used for recreational purposes.
Prohibits any such grant from being made unless it is determined by the Secretary that: (1) 15 percent of the estimated costs of such rehabilitation will be provided by either the State of Massachusetts or the State of Rhode Island; and (2) 15 percent of the estimated cost of such rehabilitation occurring in a city or town will be provided by such city or town.
