A bill to amend title 18 of the United States Code to impose criminal penalties on persons who fire firearms or throw objects at railroad trains.
Railroad Violence and Vandalism Prevention Act of 1979 - Establishes criminal penalties for anyone who knowingly propels any object, or fires a firearm, at a railroad train or car used by any railroad common carrier that engages in the transportation of passengers or property by rail in interstate or foreign commerce.
Increases such penalties where such acts result in death or physical injury of a person.
Extends the offenses of entering a train to commit a crime and wrecking trains to include any train used by any railroad common carrier that engages in the transportation of passengers or property by rail in interstate or foreign commerce.
