A bill to amend chapter 45 of title 5 of the United States Code to make improvements in the incentive awards program.
Incentive Awards Program Amendments Act of 1979 - Requires each Federal agency to establish an Office of Incentive Awards to: (1) encourage employees to participate in the incentive awards program; (2) evaluate employees' suggestions, inventions, accomplishments, and other efforts to determine whether such actions improve Government operations; and (3) recommend cash awards for such actions. Directs each agency head to determine whether to grant such an award and to notify the eligible employee of such determination.
Entitles an employee who qualifies for an award of between $10,000 and $25,000 to an amount equal to ten percent of the Government savings resulting from such employee's action during its first year of implementation.
Directs the Office of Personnel Management to issue classification series for such offices.
