A bill to provide assistance for the construction, acquisition, and renovation of State and local prison facilities, and for other purposes.
Corrections Construction and Program Development Act of 1979 - Authorizes the Secretary of Commerce to make grants to State and local governments for up to 75 percent of the cost of projects to: (1) acquire, construct, or improve correctional facilities; or (2) improve programs and practices in correctional facilities. Authorizes appropriations of $150,000,000 for fiscal year 1979 and $350,000,000 for fiscal year 1980 for such purposes.
