A bill to include in the definition of law enforcement officer contained in title 5, United States Code, employees whose duties include both the investigation, apprehension, or detention of criminals and the protection of human lives and property.

Includes within the definition of "law enforcement officer" as relating to civil service retirement, employees whose duties involve the investigation, apprehension, or detention of individuals suspected or convicted of offenses against the criminal laws of the United States, and the protection of human life and property within the employing agency's responsibility.
