Amends the Black Bass Act to make unlawful the catching, killing, taking, sale, purchase, possession, or transportation of any protected fish species, as such term is defined in this Act, in the Great Lakes State of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin other than for direct personal or family consumption or for sporting purposes.
Authorizes any such State, any time later than one year after enactment of this Act, to designate any protected fish species as available for commercial fishing within the Great Lakes waters within its jurisdiction. Declares that this Act does not preclude a State from regulating the taking of protected fish species for direct personal or family consumption or for sport for purposes of conserving that species.
