Geothermal Energy Control Act of 1979 - Establishes the National Geothermal Energy Commission for the purpose of granting licenses for the exploration and commercial development of geothermal energy. Sets forth the membership structure of such Commission and the terms of office of the commissioners. Empowers the Commission to hold hearings, take testimony, and administer oaths in furtherance of the expressed purposes of this Act.
Directs the Commission to identify those areas of the United States which have a potential for the extraction of geothermal resources and to publish its findings in the Federal Register. Empowers the Commission to grant licenses to individuals who are capable of carrying out exploration and marketing activities for geothermal steam and associated geothermal resources. Sets forth conditions for the granting of such licenses and for extensions of the term of such licenses. Authorizes the Commission to revoke the license of any person who is found to violate the antitrust laws.
