A bill to promote the export of processed timber products by progressively limiting the export or sale for export of unprocessed timber from public lands in the Western United States, and of substitutes for such timber, and for other purposes.
Public Lands Timber Export Act of 1979 - Prohibits the exportation or sale for exportation of unprocessed timber harvested from lands owned by the United States and located west of the one hundredth meridian.
Prohibits the purchase of unprocessed timber from public lands as replacement for unprocessed timber exported or sold for export from tributary private lands.
Sets forth measures to assure compliance with the terms of this Act.
