A bill to protect the public health and welfare by providing certain minimum standards of sanitation for imported dairy products.
Quality Dairy Imports Act of 1979 - Prohibits the importation of dairy products unless: (1) they have been inspected and found to be wholesome; and (2) the foreign farms and plants processing the dairy products comply with standards prescribed by the Secretary of Agriculture. Directs the Secretary to require certificates of compliance with such standards issued by the exporting country. Subjects all imported dairy products to the same laws that apply to domestic dairy products.
Authorizes the Secretary to assess the fees necessary to cover the cost of inspection services. Sets forth penalties for violations of this Act.
