Bikeway Transportation Act of 1979

Bikeway Transportation Act of 1979 - Authorizes the Secretary of Transportation to make grants to States and municipalities to cover 80 percent of the costs of bikeway construction projects in urbanized areas or which connect such areas with parks, seashores, or recreational areas.

Requires such bikeway projects to be in accordance with a continuing comprehensive transportation planning process carried on cooperatively by State and local communities.

Directs the Secretary to establish construction standards for such bikeway projects.

Authorizes appropriations out of the Highway Trust Fund and other moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
