A bill to amend and improve the programs authorized under the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 1974, and to extend such programs for one year.
Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act - Redefines the "on" and "off" indicators used in determining emergency benefit periods under the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 1974.
Stipulates that amounts appropriated to the Extended Unemployment Compensation Account shall not be repayable advances.
Extends the period for which emergency compensation is payable to encompass weeks ending on or before March 31, 1978, and, in the case of any individual who had a compensable week on or before March 31, 1978, weeks ending on or before June 30, 1978.
Provides compensation to individuals in approved training programs after exhaustion of the maximum amount of emergency compensation otherwise payable.
