A bill to authorize appropriations for Fiscal Year 1979 for intelligence activities of the United States Government, the Intelligence Community staff, the Central Intelligence Agency Retirement and Disability System, and for other purposes.
Intelligence Authorization Act - =Title I:= Authorizes the appropriation of funds for fiscal year 1979 for the conduct of intelligence activities of specified agencies in amounts to be established by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in a classified report. Requires the Senate Committee on Armed Services to prepare a separate classified report containing its funding and program recommendations on specified Department of Defense and Department of Energy intelligence programs. Directs that such reports be made available to specified Congressional committees and to appropriate entities of the Intelligence Community for which funds are authorized.
=Title II: Intelligence Community Staff= - Authorizes the appropriation of specified sums to provide staff support to the Director of Central Intelligence. Authorizes an end strength ceiling of 298 full-time employees for the intelligence community for fiscal year 1979. Allows such employees to be either permanent members of such staff or detailed from other entities of the Intelligence Community. States that, unless otherwise provided by law, the activities of the Intelligence Community Staff shall be governed by the Director of Central Intelligence in accordance with the provisions of the National Security Act of 1947 and the Central Intelligence Agency Act of 1949.
=Title III: Central Intelligence Agency Retirement and Disability System= - Authorizes appropriations for the Central Intelligence Agency Retirement and Disability System for fiscal year 1979.
