A bill to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to provide for the reasonable evaluation of the effects of certain food additives upon human health.
Food Additives Amendment - Amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to allow the use of a food additive if the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare determines that such additive does not present a significant risk to human health.
Directs the Secretary to consider certain factors in making such a determination.
Prohibits the Secretary from banning an additive which has induced cancer in animals until a determination as defined in this Act has been made, unless the Secretary determines it is in the immediate public interest to prohibit such additive.
